Help Raise Funds to get an Autism Service Dog for Carter J. Tackitt
Children with disabilities present a unique challenge to parents. Autism presents even more unique challenges than other more prevalent disabilities. The child with Autism does not connect well with his or her environment.
Autism manifests itself most strikingly as impairments in communication and in the formation of social relationships.
Carter is 6 yrs old and he has Autism.
We heard about 4 Paws For Ability (a nonprofit agency) and their Autism Service Dogs. We think obtaining a dog for Carter would be beneficial to him, and us.
4 Paws has a unique approach to placement. They partner with their clients and by doing so are able to place dogs without a long waiting list. It will cost 4 Paws $22,000 to place a dog with Carter. We are committed to raising $13,000 in support of the 4 Paws mission and can reach our goal with your help. We also need to raise another $4,000 to cover the travel, lodging, and misc expenses associated with traveling to the site to train with the dog for a couple of weeks and then having the trainer come to our location when we ship the dog etc.
Carter will benefit in many ways having a 4 Paws Autism Assistance dog. The number one reason is safety! He has no realistic sense of danger and can easily place himself in unsafe situations. Carter loves to run off and thinks he's playing a game which keeps the family pretty isolated for fear he will become lost. The dog would be beneficial for tracking purposes, help cut down on the hours we spend redirecting his challenging behaviors and would be a companion for him as well.
To help Carter with a tax-deductible donation towards the initial $13,000 needed for the dog, please visit 4 Paws Donation Page (http://www.4PawsForAbility.org/donation.html) or mail a check with Carter's name on the memo line to:
