WHAT ARE WE DOING? Coming together for an inspirational, heart pounding ride at SoulCycle Pasadena that will raise money for CHLA and Carver Elementary.
WHO ARE WE RIDING FOR? We are riding for our children, to support their education and ability to thrive and learn regardless of whether they are healthy or suffering from illness. We are especially riding for children like Cara Yamamoto, a kindergartner at Carver, who loves Computer and Art Lab. While most of the time, she is your typical active, playful kindergartner there are times when Cara's life is turned upside down and she has to go to CHLA to receive treatment for Leukemia or a related illness. Programs like Child Life are an essential part of her care.
WHERE ARE THE FUNDS GOING? The two programs we are supporting are the Child LIfe Program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and Carver Elementary's Enrichment Programs. Carver will give back to Children's Hospital Los Angeles by donating 20% of all proceeds from this ride to the Child Life Program where the funds will go towards new toys, ipads, staff and programs.
WHAT IS THE CHILD LIFE PROGRAM AT CHLA?
The Child Life Program at CHLA is an example of the hospital’s family-centered care in which Child Life staff work in partnership with physicians, nurses, social workers and other members of the patient care team to meet the developmental, social and emotional needs of patients, their siblings and families. Cara's family has counted on them to distract Cara during scary treatments, entertain her while waiting hours for her spinal taps, or just bring her an ipad and toys during doctor visits.
