American Parkinson Disease Association
American Park… SAYS:
On behalf of the Greater St.…
On behalf of the Greater St. Louis Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association, thank you so much for your donation to our GO! St. Louis team. Parkinson’s affects one in every 100 people over the age of 60 living in the U.S. Each year, the APDA of Greater St. Louis serves more than 10,000 people with Parkinson’s, caregivers, and medical professionals. This event will raise awareness of Parkinson disease as well as raise funds for research and the APDA Information & Referral Center network. Your support of our efforts is truly appreciated by our entire Parkinson community. To learn more about APDA and who we serve, visit our website at www.stlapda.org. If you’d like to receive our quarterly newsletter, please call us at 314-362-3299 or e-mail Michelle at brooksmi@neuro.wustl.edu.

CROWDRISING SINCE: Jan 27, 2014
Stuff About Me:

I am a 37 year old Nurse Practitioner who was diagnosed at 35 with early onset Parkinson's disease. I am currently undergoing the placement of a Deep Brain Stimulator at St. Louis University by Neurologist Dr. Chand and Neurosurgeon Dr. Bucholz. I had my lead placed for my left sided tremor January 20th, and get to have my generator placed and lead attached on Jan 29th this Wednesday. I have always been active until Parkinson's made it to where I couldn't work last summer due muscle jerking, tremors, and my poor gait. It is my goal with my new DBS to not walk but run this 5 K....It just depends on how soon I can be released to exercise after surgery. I want others to see what's available to them now and to support a permanent cure in the very near future. I have a wonderful husband of 18 years, a intellegent and talented 12 year old daughter....Oh, and my 17 year old son is graduating first in his high school class in May....If I'm shaking then I want it to be out of pride!! Giving Parkinson's the slip...thanks for your help. - See more at: http://www.crowdrise.com/teamamericanparkinson2014/fundraiser/caryannbailey#sthash.q0uKE2CZ.dpuf.
