BENEFITING: Casa Milagro
Casa Milagro. House of Miracles. Won't you take a few moments to learn about our amazing non-profit organization? We ask for your help today as we run an uphill marathon to the homestretch of our funding cycle. Your support will help us reach our goal! Casa Milagro has been providing services to the Santa Fe NM community for the last 16 years! We have ensured permanent, stable, affordable and humane housing for many formerly homeless adults with disabling mental illness. We are a unique group home unlike any other in New Mexico providing a holistic program of 24/7 care for 12 residents as well as a few dogs, cats, fish and frogs. We help our residents maintain stability by assisting with medications, providing intense case management, supporting scheduling and attendance of doctor and mental health appointments, and teaching life skills. Casa Milagro's program also includes and emphasis on the arts (being contributors, not just spectators), and for the last two years our residents have participated in the Inside Out art show at the James Kelley gallery. We also support several local colleges by providing internship and service learning opportunities. Most importantly we are a community that recognizes the value of each individual (residents, staff and interns included) and we are committed to creating a home where everyone feels accepted and welcome. In January 2014, due to circumstances beyond our control, Casa Milagro lost our ability to bill Medicaid for intensive case management services. This left a large shortfall in our funding that we have struggled to fill, but we have managed to get by until this year. In April, we will exhaust our grant monies until FY2017 renewals resume in July. We have a plan for future sustainability in partnering with a larger agency in our community, and are looking into another potential new funding source. However, until then, you can help us build a sustainability bridge to protect our amazing 12 residents from ever being homeless again. Your contribution is vital to our reaching our goal of $30,000 between now and June 2016. Please help support our residents and their home. Please help us keep our House of Miracles alive and well. We invite you to be part of the miracle that is Casa Milagro! Donations can also be made on our website www.casamilagrosantafe.org.
