In 1995 Mama Kia visited Cusco, Peru and was moved by the plight of abandoned and orphaned children. Following the death of her grandson she, along with her daughter and son-in-law had so much love to give that they decided to put it into other children who were not fortunate enough to have parents to love them.
The purpose of Casa De Milagros is to nourish the mind, body and spirit of orphaned children and instill in them a sense of self-esteem and self-worth. The children are allowed to be who they are and that they matter to someone in the world.
Following the untimely death of Mama Kia, the challenge has been to continue to offer a safe haven the way Mama Kia intended by helping these children feel loved, important and nurtured.
We are traveling to Casa De Milagros in May 2012 to kick off this fundraiser. We will offer our support and bring as many supplies as we can stuff in our suitcases. Our intention is to raise funds and/or supplies from their donation list (see link below). No donation is too small. We promise to document and share our adventure on Crowdrise and Facebook.
