BENEFITING: Corazon De Vida Foundation
We need your help! This orphanage is struggling: it recently lost all its funding. Corazon de Vida stepped in to fund the basic needs. The home has now a new director: his name is Jorge. He grew up in the home and left 12 years ago to become a teacher. When he found out what was happening, he moved back in with his wife and he is now dedicated to making this home survive for the 45 kids they host.
Out of the 45 kids, 14 are special needs kids. Like Jorge explained, this is the only place for them. In Mexico, the public services are pretty much inexistent. This place is their only possible home.
The home is located on Tribal land and as long as it is an orphanage it can be there! They have a lot of land and space to have animals, a playground and several buildings. There is also a greenhouse where they could grow plants and vegetables. The wind blew the whole cover of the greenhouse and they need money to fix it and get it going again. The structure is there: it just needs the plastic covers put back on. They have someone that can take care of the greenhouse full time for $300 a month. They already have the planters, the seeds, and one of the neighbors has offered some plants as well.
I am hoping we can raise $2,600 which will pay for the repairs of the covering ($800) and 6 months of the caretaker's salary ($300 x 6).
100% of the funds raised will go to the home. Every donor will also receive a personal invitation from the orphanage's director to come visit the home and share a meal with the kids. And every donation is tax deductible!
We are also in advanced talks with a San Diego organic farm to have them assist us with preparing the dirt, planting, installing gutters for rainwater and more. So getting the greenhouse going is the first step towards a much bigger project for this home. Any donation will help! Please share!!
