Casita Copán is a “home away from home” for at-risk children in Copán Ruinas, Honduras. Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere with 65% of its population living in poverty, many of them children. Without proper care, these children are at risk for illiteracy, malnutrition, violence, disability, and exploitation.
Founded by a group of concerned citizens, Casita Copán is dedicated to providing care for our community’s most vulnerable children. Our children’s center provides essential day care services to single moms living in poverty who are supporting their families on their own. We believe that by supporting both mothers and children we can keep families together and help prevent child abandonment.
Our children’s center currently provides daily care, food, water, medicine, clothes, education, emotional support, and love to 26 children from the ages of 1 to 12. We are also building the infrastructure to care for orphaned and abandoned children in the future.
