The Cassie James Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit establishment, implementing community change and development in urban inner city neighborhoods, to foster the next generation of change. The Cassie James Non-Profit Foundation was founded in 2004 after the sudden death of the Founder Cassie Marie Barnes' grandfather Mr. James Rylander Barnes. This foundation was started in honor of the Founders' Grandmother the late Cassie Marie Alexander who passed away from heart disease on February 19th, 1990 and Grandfather the late James Rylander Barnes who passed away from Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia on the founders birthday December 31st, 2004. Both of the Founders' grandparents suffered from diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease and these diseases are hereditary on both sides of the founders family. The Cassie James Foundation was started to bring awareness to Heart Disease, Diabetes, Leukemia, and Domestic Violence; being that the founder was once a victim of Domestic Violence and now is an activist and advocate against it. The Cassie James Foundation is here as an out reach entity for people from all walks of life to obtain the proper guidance to achieve awareness, gain a voice, and have an outlet for the issues people face on a daily basis, but may be unaware of how to go about seeking the proper help, guidance and information. As a woman of color Cassie Marie Barnes wants to educate other woman of color about heart disease, strokes, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, and high cholesterol being the number one causes of death in minorities in the U.S. and hopefully one day find cures for these diseases. Persistence over comes Resistance and the Cassie James Foundation is here to persist in educating and bringing awareness to important causes for our society to remain abreast of the information that is out there to help them.
