THE STORY:

Catherine Salgado wrote -

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer at the end of June 2016. Definitely unexpected and heartbreaking. There was no other option but to stop working immediately so I can get all the aggressive medical treatments I can possibly get in order to get better as soon as possible!

I love the outdoors and I used to be a biking and hiking enthusiast. I try my best to teach my 5 year old the love of outdoors, and simple but healthy lifestyle. This diagnosis definitely put a dent in our regular routine as I am very limited in doing physical activities most of the time. Even climbing the stairs at home is challenging at times... but I am here to fight; Fight with all my might to beat this! I know I can and I will, you'll see. Without the help of my wife Cristina, it would have been much harder to get by from day to day. This is why I am ever so grateful to her and to our self-sufficient son.

I want to inspire others who are battling this disease that you can do anything you put your mind to. It'll be the end of my Round 2 Cycle 8 chemo week on the day of the walk. It will be challenging I know but I will walk hand in hand with my son. I want to show him that regardless of how long it takes you to reach your goal, you just have to work hard and just keep going until you reach it... because in the end, you will reach it! You just have to set your mind to reach it.
