Last fall, my family lost our powerful matriarch, my grandmother. Her life was remarkable for countless reasons, but one of the greatest was her boundless generosity, largely inspired by what I believe to be the greatest driver of Catholicism - good works. And while my G-ma would have never been caught in athletic gear, if I can mirror even a fraction of the energy she put into her good works, I will easily be able to finish 26.2 miles. To honor her memory, legacy, and to try just minutely live up to the active and beautiful standard she set for the rest of us, I am excited to run the NYC Marathon this year in support of the good works done by NY Catholic Charities.
