Running to bring awareness and help those that are less fortunate ...
July 29, 2016
In 2015, I decided to run a #40racesfor40 challenge to commemorate turning 40 years old. A video summary of my experience can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOk4voSp0fc
I travelled all over the United States to amazing places like Yosemite, Chicago, and Myrtle Beach in which I ran 23 half-marathons and finished with the Philadelphia Marathon on November 22, 2015 as my 40th and final race.
When I started working as the CYO Director in Ulster County last November, I was finishing up my 40 races. Over my life, one thing running has taught me is that adversity and challenging times is something that you will undoubtly encounter at one point or another in a race or while training, but it is how you overcome or persevere through those hard times that defines you as a person. In working with the youth in Ulster County, I tell the kids that the same lesson can be applied to them in their own lives and I hope to provide inspiration to those that may be experiencing hardship.
I am excited to be a part of the Catholic Charities Team that will be participating in the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon and if you are able to support my fundraising goal in any way, that would be greatly appreciated!
