Cato Swims for Imagine Swimming Outreach Program
Organized by: Gigi Lee Chang
January 16, 2017
EVENT DATE Jan 14, 2017
On Saturday, Jan 14, Cato will swim as many laps as he can in one-hour during Imagine Swimming's Swim-A-Thon to raise funds for their Outreach Program. Please support us in helping them to reach their goal of $20,000 for the event.
Cato first started swim lessons when he was just two years old with Imagine Swimming. None of us could have anticipated it would lead to a passion for swimming nor the community and camaraderie he has found with his fellow team mates from the Manhattan Makos (the team that grew from the Imagine swim school).
Not all children have the opportunity to access a swim program such as the one offered by Imagine Swimming. A school founded by former Olympian Casey Barrett and NCAA champion Lars Merseburg with a philosophy that not only teaches water safety and swim skills, but fosters a true love of swimming - whether for recreation or competition.
In 2015, Imagine Swimming launched its Outreach Program to instill and foster a love for the aquatic world in children in underserved communities in New York City. The Program provides premier instruction to those who are not typically able to obtain pool time. With the help of Imagine Ambassador and three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Anthony Ervin, the program has already reached scores of children on the Lower East Side and in the South Bronx.
