BENEFITING: CONGREGATION BNAI BRITH CORPORATION
On Sunday, November 15 CBB will host the Children of the Covenant Legacy Luncheon honoring our community's WWII veterans. In honor of this event, and to honor the legacy of all WWII veterans who courageously secured our futures as Americans and Jews, CBB is raising funds to assist in the creation of a memorial to honor veteran's of WWII. The memorial, led by the Pierre Claeyssen Veterans Foundation and called Wings of Honor, will be built at the entrance of the Santa Barbara Airport, which served as a Marine Corp Base during WWII. Once completed, it will be the largest structure of its kind in the world, and will be complete with interactive digital displays to educate our community on the unique history of Santa Barbara in WWII. Little remembered today is that Santa Barbara's coast was attacked by the Japenese during WWII, and over the course of WWII 26 men died serving and defending our coastline. Santa Barbara's Marine Base was also home to the largest contingent of female service members in the nation. Santa Barbara has also been home to some of the top pilots in American military history, as well as the home to 4 star generals. In the Jewish tradition of honoring and remembering our past while acting in the present, we are honored to support the creation of the Wings of Honor memorial to honor our WWII veterans while preserving for our community the memory of this important time in Santa Barbara's history. Please help us to support the construction of this important memorial. 100% of every donation will go to the building of the memorial. We will award the funds to the Pierre Claeyssen Veterans Foundation, who is leading the memorial effort, at our Legacy Luncheon on Sunday, November 15 at CBB. Thank you!
