Support a College Bound student. Your donation will help provide essential needs not met by financial aid, loans or grants. This isn’t your typical scholarship program; it’s about changing a life. Our College Bound students are showing the world that, even though they made mistakes and struggled in life, they can and will succeed. They have taken the steps to right their lives, get prepared academically and emotionally and now just need a little help to make college success a reality. Join us and show our students and the world, that the future is now.
In 2012, College Bound Dorchester started a College Scholarship Fund, providing proven-risk students with scholarships. We now seek to grow the Fund to serve 100 students who will be enrolled in college this fall. We serve proven-risk youth, who are highly disconnected and furthest off-track – many are the first in their family to go to college.
The scholarship is designed to facilitate their pathway to and through community college, building the skills and experience to strive in the 21st century workforce. We launched an ambitious initiative to provide 100 students with scholarships at our annual event. Our goal that evening was to raise $50,000 to kick-start the Scholarship Fund goal of $200,000. That evening we raised $75,000.
We are now seeking support to raise the remaining $125,000 by August 25, 2015, the date of our annual Matriculation Event – meeting our goal would be a great triumph as we celebrate the students matriculating to college in 2015. Each scholarship is $2,000 and helps support our students’ transition to and through college. All contributions are impactful, and there are many ways to help our students succeed.
$50,000 for 25 scholarships
$10,000 for 5 scholarships
$2,000 for 1 scholarship
$1,000, to pair up with another donor, for 1 scholarship
Students may take two to three years to complete their first degree.
Please consider a recurring, annual donation. In the past five years, we have built the College Bound model to send more than 125 students to college, with a matriculation rate 59% greater than the national average for GED students. College Readiness Advisors provide each student with: 1) specialized academic and social-emotional tutoring, 2) coaching through the enrollment and financial aid process, and 3) help navigating campus resources. This scholarship fund will ensure that this pipeline continues to grow and serve more deserving students.
