Childrens Cancer and Blood Foundation Inc. wrote -Christian was near death when we first met him – even though he was only 7 months old. Though he seemed perfectly healthy at birth, at 7 months of age he came to us at Weill Cornell’s Pediatric Intensive Care, with seizures and was found to be bleeding in his brain and critically ill. His parents were terrified. It was heartbreaking. Christian hung on though. Thanks to the kind of research and diagnostic work all of us here at CCBF have been supporting over the last 60 years, the doctors were able to figure out what was wrong with him. It turns out that Christian suffers from Factor V Deficiency, a very rare bleeding disorder, similar to hemophilia. While Christian’s disorder is treatable, his medicine and transfusions are expensive – thousands of dollars every month. CCBF needs your help to raise our goal of $10,000 this holiday season for children like Christian. During this season of giving, your tax deductible gift is the perfect way to make a difference. With your support, we will take steps closer to finding more comfortable ways of treating children like Christian so they can lead normal lives. I'm happy to say that there might be a cure in sight for Christian and his friends. Right now, CCBF scientists are participating in cutting edge research on new medications that can make a difference in the lives of not only Christian and his family, but to hundreds of families just like them. A simple gift from you now will make their struggles just a little bit easier.
