Whenever a child is newly diagnosed with cancer, we start by asking one simple question:
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Whatever that is (a police officer, video game designer, rodeo cowgirl, nurse, bookstore owner, athlete, dancer, teacher, nail stylist, etc.), we match each child with someone inspirational -- someone who can be there through all the transitions of the cancer journey just for her.
Our friendships are about so much more than a feel-good-moment. Everything we do is uniquely research-based and outcomes-driven. Our programs are powerfully built to steer child cancer patients back onto the path of a happy & healthy developing child.
Right now, 75% of kids diagnosed with cancer in Pittsburgh are signing up for a role model friend in our organization. Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC identified significant changes in the quality of life of our kids, and partnered with CCChampions to bring positive developmental outcomes to child cancer patients across the country.
