As some of you may know, my origins lie heavily in the Philippines. I still have family there. Some have been fortunate to survive such a devastation; others have not. Many have gone days without clean water, food & medication. Many are starving; especially children. Blocked roads & poor conditions from the typhoon, and now, the rain from the following tropical depression, make the delivery of aid difficult, especially to the most remote areas.
Having lived in the Philippines, I am familiar with these typhoons. They are as common as tropical depressions are in Hawai’i, and though warned of it, we go on living our lives as usual. But Typhoon Haiyan was different. The Philippine islands was hit with the strongest cyclone winds at 195 mph; gusts measured at 235 mph, both which are of record to date. Statistics currently show:
Death toll 2,500
++ 2,000,000 need food aid
300,000 pregnant women or new mothers
20,000 homes have been destroyed
As a result of those in dire need, I have started my own Typhoon Haiyan Disaster Relief Fund via The American Red Cross. My initiall minimum goal is $1,000; my maximum is limitless. Per $100.00 that you donate I’ll "match" it by $25.00…
Please help those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
I thank you in advance for your time & full consideration; and greatly appreciate any/all assistance you are able to provide.
Aloha, Mabuhay, & God Bless,
