My mission and about the race

In 2014, my goal is to run my first half marathon.  I figured while I'm trying to achieve my goal, why not do it in a way that helps others.  I joined a Team Challenge as part of Team CT.  I am running for those who can't to raise awareness for Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.  On July 20, 2014, I will be participating in the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon with Team Challenge, an endurance training and fundraising program through the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). I am asking for your support as I take on this exciting and somewhat daunting challenge.

I have been training for the last 2 months and have 2 months of training to go to run 13.1 miles and raise important funds to support CCFA’s mission of finding a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, two incapacitating and incurable digestive diseases affecting 1.5 million Americans. I am running in honor of two special people.  The first one is my cousin Terry Casagrande. Terry has battled Crohn's for a good part of his life although it was not known until he was in his late 20s. He's been battling this disease for almost 20 years and he is finally in remission.  The second is a very special 10-year old girl, Piper.  Team CT is of Piper who was diagnosed with the disease 2 years ago. She is the daughter of one of our teammates and she's battles this debilitating disease daily. The days she feels good she attends our team training sessions and its so inspiring to do something so simple to help this little girl try to live a normal life

The funds raised through Team Challenge directly benefit CCFA in their research efforts and patient support. Since its inception, Team Challenge has raised over $50 million dollars to help find a cure and has helped over 9,000 people cross the finish line. More than 82 cents of every dollar raised goes directly toward CCFA’s research, education and supportive services.

I have committed to raise a minimum of $5,000 for CCFA and to cross the finish line in California this summer. I will take care of the training but I need your help to reach my fundraising goal. No contribution is too small when imagining a world without Crohn’s and colitis. To make a tax-deductible donation, please either visit my website and make a contribution at http://www.active.com/donate/napaCT14/CTMSenerc or include a check made out to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America or CCFA in the envelope I have included for your convenience.  Your donation in any amount is greatly appreciated.

Thank you & Go Team Challenge!
