BENEFITING: Crohn's & Colitis Foundation
ORGANIZER: Crohn's Colitis Foundation
"At least it's not cancer" is what you think or what others will tell you when you find out your child as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), a chronic incurable illness. Until you find out that your child will have "A Childhood Interrupted". Endless tests, stomach pain, maybe achieving remission, maybe not, missing school, major surgery like losing your colon at 5, vomiting, diarrhea with blood, missing fun. The list is endless when a child has an immune-related disease like IBD.
So many kids and parents have to deal with this terrible disease on a daily basis. I do and so does my son Ross. Fortunately, for him, he is doing well now. But many others are not. That's why I'm fundraising and running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon. Something I've never done and something that many kids might never do without your help. Please join us and support local Pittsburgh families dealing with this disease.
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Over 1.4 million Americans are directly impacted by these debilitating diseases. CCFA exists to fund cutting edge research, provide support services and to overall improve the quality of life of those living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
The dollars you raise as a fundraiser through the Pittsburgh Marathon go directly to the local chapter and help CCFA with its mission. We encourage you to learn more, fundraise and join us!
