EVENT: NYC Half 2011
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2011
I'm running the New York City Half-Marathon to support Crossroads Community Services/Community Ministry at St. Bart's, the church in which Rebecca and I are actively involved.
Crossroads Community Services, Inc. is a 501(c)3. We seek to help end hunger and homelessness. Our work begins in the soup kitchen which includes a breakfast program and a dinner program (over 40,000 meals prepared and served on site), a food pantry (groceries to help low income families provide food for more than 20,000 meals in their own homes) and an overnight shelter (which provides shelter for up to eight women a night, 365 nights a year). Donations will go towards the general operation of the programs, and will also go towards the renovation and improvement of our out-of-date kitchen.
St. Bart's is a very special place to Rebecca and me. We were married there. Our son, Aidan, was baptized there. Rebecca presently teaches the Junior Youth in the Sunday School program. St. Bart's programs, including Community Ministry (supported by this run), are very important to us. Please consider joining us in supporting it by pledging to sponsor me in this upcoming run. Thanks!
