I can’t believe that it has already been a year since I last updated you on the volunteer work that I have been doing with the orphanages in Baja California, Mexico, that Corazon de Vida, the wonderful US-based non-profit organization, supports.
In just 10 days, I will be visiting one of these orphanages called Casa Hogar Sion located in the Matamoras region in Tijuana, Mexico, as part of our annual Holiday Trip fundraising campaign. Casa Hogar Sion is home to about 100 children, 20 of which are babies. This orphanage was started by Jorge and Carmen Gonzales who sold their home to buy land and start the orphanage years ago.
Many of the children in the orphanage were abandoned by their parents, others come from severely abusive homes and the remainder were found living on the streets and were rescued by Carmen (via referrals from the Mexican social service organization DIF). In my many visits to this orphanage this past year, I have had the privilege to get to know many of these children personally and build relationships with them. I am still amazed each time that I visit these children at the love that they exude, the hope and dreams that they have for the future and the desire for nothing more than a stable, loving home (see the attached pictures of a few of the kids).
Casa Hogar Sion provides this environment but they rely completely on donations from people like you and I to support them financially.
I know that there are so many worthy causes for you to donate to therefore I only ask that you consider joining me in feeding, housing, clothing, caring for medical needs and educating the children that call Casa Hogar Sion home.
