Stuff About Me:

Cecilia Valenzuela, 23, is a last-year Veterinary student at University Complutense of Madrid (Spain). She will graduate this fall after finishing her final project in University for Development Studies (Ghana). The project aims to study antibiotic resistance in Salmonella species in Ghana, under the mentorship of Professor Bruno González-Zorn. She is also studying mathematics at the Spanish Distance Learning University (UNED) with the purpose of compounding both majors in her future occupation, in a world where pressing issues require multidisciplinary approaches.

This year, she has become an active member of Small World Initiative, an innovative crowdsourcing antibiotic discovery program. She was a finalist in the CDC-SWI "Do Something about Antibiotics" with the idea that is developed in this CGI U Commitment to Action.
