THE STORY:

I'm on the Host Committee of CAAAV's 2013 Fundraiser celebrating the 18 years of leadership of Helena Wong as she transitions into her next role in the movement. CAAAV has done incredible base-building, leadership development, and organizing of low-income Asian immigrants for racial, gender, and economic justice working with other queer allies and communities of color.

Now is the time to honor Helena's work and your love for CAAAV with a donation to help them through this big transition. Please reach a little extra and consider making a one time donation of $100 or $18/month for a year.

Why? Because CAAAV has made many strides in 2013 and need your support to continue the work:

Early 2013, members of the Chinatown Tenants Union and residents of 81 Bowery have returned to their homes after they were vacated by the City a second time in March.

CAAAV worked with the citywide Communities United for Police Reform campaign to pass the Community Safety Act, a local legislation that would call for an independent inspector general's office to provide oversight to the NYPD and to ban racial profiling.

CAAAV educated, politicized, and engaged Chinatown Tenants Union members in a fair and just rezoning plan for Chinatown and the Lower East Side.

These are just a few highlights of CAAAV's amazing work. Can you help with a donation? Any amount will have a tremendous impact! If you are in NYC, please join us for the party on Dec. 13th at 6:30pm at The Commons. You can RSVP by going to www.caaav.org!

Thank you for your support,
Yasmeen
