BENEFITING: CELEBRATE LIFE HALF MARATHON
EVENT DATE: Mar 13, 2016
The original plan was to run the Celebrate Life Half Marathon in honor of Janet Flaum Marquez, but there was another plan for her. So now we run in memory of a beautiful, smart, and absolutely hysterical woman who probably would have been the first person to tell us that we are certifiably insane for voluntarily signing-up to run 13.1 miles...outside...in March...in Rock Hill. I love you, Aunt Janet, and miss you every single day. I'd much rather you still be here with us, but this is our little (and yes, maybe crazy) way of remembering you.
Celebrate Life Half Marathon honors, remembers, and celebrates those who have fought against cancer. It is a “Feel Good Race” in beautifully scenic (and hilly!) Sullivan County. What money is raised by the race is donated; there are no overhead or admin expenses; 100% of the proceeds go to assisting cancer patients in treatment and their families in Orange and Sullivan Counties. The Celebrate Life Patient Fund provides grants for meals, transportation, co-pays, and other every day expenses. These people- our friends, neighbors, colleagues- are fighting for their lives. These grants help alleviate some of the financial stress so they can focus on kicking cancer's ass!
Please consider giving what you can. Every single dollar helps someone fighting the fight!
