As I travel along this newfound journey of better health, I often think about my life and the challenges I have faced. One of the most difficult times in my life was having to say goodbye to my father. One of the things I miss most about him was his unwavering devotion to everything I did. Without fail, he was always the first person to tell me that he was proud. No matter what I decided in life - even attempting to run 13 miles in March - he would have supported me 100% and moved mountains to be there as my biggest cheerleader. Although I wish I could cross the finish line and see his face, I'm hoping that this can be my little way of remembering him and saying thank you for being my biggest fan. I'm running for my father, and for all those who have fought against cancer. Whether the battle is won or lost, our love will live on forever. Celebrate Life Half Marathon honors, remembers, and celebrates those who have fought against cancer. It is a "Feel Good Race" in a beautifully scenic (and hilly!) Sullivan County, NY. What money is raised by the race is donated; there are no overhead or admin expenses; 100% of the proceeds go to assisting cancer patients in treatment and their families in Orange and Sullivan Counties. The Celebrate Life Patient Fund provides grants for meals, transportation, co-pays, and other every day expenses. These people - our friends, neighbors, colleagues - are fighting for their lives. These grants help alleviate some of the financial stress so that they can focus on kicking cancer's ass!
