Not only am I an employee of Water For People, I am extremely passionate about the work we do.
Water For People envisions a world where every person has access to reliable and safe drinking water and sanitation. We exist to promote the development of high quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments.
I have had the fortunate experience to visit our programming in both India and Peru. While the experience of traveling to very remote areas was completely new and overwhelming for me, I was impressed by the level of ownership the communities we visited displayed for their water systems. Clearly, Water For People was not seen as "charity" in these areas, but as partners that were able to help these communities fill a basic human right - access to sustainable, safe resources. And that's what keeps me coming to work every day - to know that there are men, women and children in Latin America, India and Africa who are spending more time living, working, learning, playing - and less time trying to collect water from questionable sources.
Happy Birthday to Water For People - celebrating 25 years of being an industry-leader in building sustainable communities, with the goal that those communities never have to rely on foreign aid in the future!
