The Celebration Project
Organized by: Retha Charette
In October of 2015 I will be celebrating 25 years as a member of the Girl Scout movement. It still blows my mind that I've been involved for that long! Right alongside that, in April of 2016, I'll be turning 30! To commemorate these 2 milestones, I'll be heading to Peru to hike to Machu Picchu and go whitewater rafting with some of the girls of Peruvian Promise.
While Girl Scouts has taught me that the world is a great big place full of adventure and exploration, it has also taught me that I can make a difference in it. The long and short of it is: Every girl, everywhere, deserves an education. So together let's make that happen. Because of this, for my birthday and Girl Scout-a-versary I am asking you all to help me, help Peruvian Promise.
A little more on Peruvian Promise: they are an organization that, "empowers young women and enables them to reach their full potential through a unique formula. We combine enhanced educational opportunities along with mentorship and participation in service and structured empowerment classes to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to for these young women to rise up and break the cycle of poverty.“ Visit their website for more information: http://www.peruvianhearts.org/whatwedo/peruvian-promise/
My goal is to be able to give 3 Empower Scholarships at $2,000 each, 1 scholarship for every decade I've been alive. Each scholarship provides one Peruvian Promise scholar with an entire year of college or university and covers all associated academic expenses including tuition, registration fees, books, supplies, and a uniform.
The money you donate will be used to give 3 girls tuition (and then some) for college for an entire year.
Girl Scouts has helped me become the woman that I am today, so let's help the girls of Peruvian Promise live up to their potential. Thank-you for your support!
