BENEFITING: RESTORATION MINISTRIES INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 12, 2014
Five years ago, as I crossed into my thirties, I weighed almost 400 pounds. I couldn't jog one lap around the track without having to stop and walk. Five years and about 175 pounds later, I find myself passing my 35th birthday with a new view of myself and my life. And I choose to celebrate that by pushing myself to achieve a goal I never dreamed possible: I'm going to run a marathon.
But it's not enough for me to do this for myself alone. The Chicago Marathon gives me a great opportunity to help others as I celebrate how far I've come -- I'm running for Restoration Ministries, a Christian nonprofit in Harvey, Illinois that specializes in rehabilitation, training, and community support for at-risk, disadvantaged youth, recovering drug addicts, and families and seniors living in poverty.
God has restored my own zest for living these past five years -- join me, and we can help support others as they are restored, as well!
