BENEFITING: Achilles International Inc.
EVENT DATE: Jul 16, 2017
I swore I would never EVER jump into the Hudson River again and alas, I will be plunging into the same sketchy sludgezone next Sunday - it is the NYC Triathlon! The first leg is the Swim in New York’s not so lovely Hudson River. You all know that I love to race and that I am extremely competitive (to a fault!). But picture this....How about racing blind, deaf, down syndrome or Wounded Warriors with a prosthetic arm or leg. Scary right! COME ON!! Are you kidding me!! This is what Achilles Athletes do. They swim, bike and run with physical limitations that none of us would ever think possible. NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL INSPIRATIONAL!
This is the one and only reason why I am jumping into this "So called Cleaner River". I'm guiding Achilles athlete Alison Lynch. Alison was born with a condition called achromatopsia. It’s a rare, recessive genetic condition that leaves her legally blind. And yet she is fearless and determined to place on the podium.
All winter I have trained indoors with these athletes and I am amazed at every workout how excited, determined and dedicated they are. I am truly inspired by all of them. Please help me raise funds so these athletes can continue to train, gain access to training facilities and expert coaching. And most of all....Race to Win! Who wants to do this kind of suffering? WEDÜ
