Celiac disease is the most prevalent autoimmune disease, and about 83% of people with this genetic disorder don't know they have it. Tax ID 95-4310830

Celiac disease is a lifelong inherited autoimmune condition that affects both children and adults.  When people who have celiac disease eat foods containing gluten*, it causes an immune reaction that damages the small intestine and does not allow nutrients to be absorbed properly. The Celiac Disease Foundation diligently ensures its hard-earned resources are distributed to programs furthering research, advocacy, and education to increase the celiac disease diagnosis rate and find a cure.

*Gluten is the common name for proteins found in wheat, barley and rye.
