WE RUN TO ADVANCE DIABETES RESEARCH: As individuals we have a presence, but together as team we are a force. The Cellmates on the Run is a running group that brings people together to achieve a common goal: to raise awareness in the fight of an aggressively growing epidemic - DIABETES.

Specifically, we run for the Chicago Diabetes Project (CDP) – the first scientific collaboration of its kind. Physicians, scientists, engineers, chemists and molecular biologists from three continents have a common goal—find a cure for diabetes as fast as possible. The mission of the CDP is to make islet cell transplantation the most promising treatment for diabetes today, and a viable option for all who suffer with diabetes.

In 2009, the Cellmates on the Run became an official charity with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and the ING New York Marathon. Our first year was immensely successful: 131 total runners raised over $200,000 for The Chicago Diabetes Project. We hope to raise $500,000.00 in 2012.
