Center For Hope And Safety wrote -
We sometimes take for granted certain aspects of our lives, such as a home in which we feel safe and protected. Unfortunately, this is not the standard for the women and children who come to Center For Hope And Safety. Calling our agency is the first step in their escape from an abusive and potentially deadly home environment.
Center for Hope and Safety (formerly Shelter Our Sisters) is dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence, and their children, by turning fear into safety, helplessness into strength, and isolation into hope.. Our mission is to help people heal and grow through a wide range of services that offer the tools needed to leave the violence and to make new beginnings possible.
We are the only agency dedicated to sheltering Bergen County’s women and children who are victimized by domestic violence. We pride ourselves in offering timely, quality and comprehensive delivery of service that includes a 24-hour emergency shelter and hotline services, five transitional homes, crisis counseling, children’s services, legal assistance, Hispanic outreach, Project Self-Sufficiency (work readiness training for women), a follow-up program and community education. Our focus is building empowerment and self-sufficiency for our families.
Each year, the agency shelters approximately 250 women and children; supports in excess of 600 women and children with a diversified continuum of services and responds to over 4,000 calls to our 24-hour hotline. Over the last several years, the demand for our services has increased dramatically.
None of our work could be done without our amazing supporters. We ask your support to sustain our efforts and thank you for your kind consideration. We believe that changing a life is a worthy investment.
