As most of you know, my father, Alan Harrington, passed away from Melanoma on September 27th, 2014, at just 56 years old. It was a rollercoaster of a year – he was diagnosed in January, had surgery in February, the cancer came back in May, and he unfortunately passed in September. It’s a gross understatement to describe my father as a great man – loving, funny, generous, kind to all, always put his family first. Anyone who knew my dad knew how tough and resilient he was – throughout the ups and downs of those 9 months, he never lost his spirit or his sense of humor (and also never stopped working- so stubborn). He was always less concerned with himself and more worried about us and our mom – a true testament to his selflessness and the love he had for us. He truly was the greatest man I (along with many others) knew; which is why I’ve decided to run the Central Park Half Marathon on Sunday, February 22nd in his honor. My goal is to raise $1,500 by then – a small contribution that can help wipe out this awful, aggressive disease and help other families who may be going through what we went through. Every little bit counts – thank you all for your support.
