In recognition of May being Skin Cancer/Melanoma Awareness Month, we’ve decided to direct our fundraising towards the Skin Cancer/Melanoma Center right here at CentraState.
With Atlantic Ocean beaches also in our backyards – it is not surprising to learn that residents of Monmouth County are highly impacted by melanoma. While incidence and mortality rates are decreasing in other areas of the state, they are increasing in Monmouth County. CentraState is one of only SEVEN medical facilities in the country to offer MoleSafe screening, which is the latest in technology for early detection and long term surveillance of skin conditions.
In addition to the money we raise to help CentraState expand the Skin Cancer and Melanoma programs and screenings available to all of us, we also stand to win the OceanFirst Charity Challenge prizes of $10,000, $3,000 or $2,000!
Wondering how far your donation will take us? Every little bit will add up to make a huge impact. Here are some of the costs associated with a free skin cancer screening for 50 participants:
$50 - Educational Materials to take home and share
$100 - Medical Supplies such as gloves and wipes
$180 - 1 Nurse for 4.5 hours, although 2 would be needed
$400 - Advertising, because without awareness, early detection would be impossible!
$1,200 - Camera with dermoscopic lenses for MoleSafe program, to be able to serve a larger population
$2,125 - Additional MoleSafe surveillance program for 5 participants identified as high risk
The goal we set is based upon funding 5 screenings and purchasing one camera
