BENEFITING: KIDS FOR TOMORROW INC
Education in Kenya is technically free for students from nursery age through eigth grade. In practice however, the public schools are incredibly overcrowded. A typical public school 1st grade class has 85 students and 1 teacher. Children share desk space and take turns sitting because there is not enough room for everyone. Books, while treasured, are virtually non-existent. In every way, the public schools and the children therein are struggling. By the seventh and eight grades, many students give up and drop out. With the challenges facing the public school system, many children, especially orphans, are refused admission.
This July, I am partnering with Kids for Tomorrow, an organization established to provide a quality educational experience to Kenyan children. To raise money and awareness for this cause, I will be hiking Mount Kilimanjaro. It's a 7 day journey that will begin at the base of the mountain, hike to it's summit, and back down to the bottom. Mount Kilimanjaro is the largest free-standing mountain in the world (19,341 ft above sea level). This will be a challenging and rewarding expedition.
I humbly request any level of financial sponsorship with which you may be comfortable. I am optimistic that with enough support, I will be able to achieve my goal of $7,600. I appreciate any contribution, big or small. Also, promoting this endeavor via your social channels significantly helps. Please know that 100% of your contributions goes directly to the organization and is tax deductible. I am funding my own airfare, hike, equipment, etc.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
