BENEFITING: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Inc.
Join us on September 18th at 11am for a WOD to benefit the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk!!! Shortly after my mother (a non-smoker) was diagnosed with metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer I became very interested in somehow getting involved in cancer research. A sociologist by training, I wasn’t exactly sure how to break into this world. Four years ago I was presented with the opportunity to work with an amazing group of researchers at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute managing a project studying the impact of DNA sequencing on the clinical care of cancer patients. This and other research at DFCI and partner institutions has evolved into the Center for Cancer Precision Medicine (CCPM) whose mission it is to catalyze the implementation of precision cancer medicine and enable treatments tailored to the specific genetic and molecular alterations that arise in each individual’s tumor. I feel very lucky to work at DFCI, to be part of CCPM team and to raise money that will directly support these research efforts through our Jimmy Fund Team! I lost my mom 10 years ago and created this WOD (with Mel!) in her honor. Her birthday was 8/5/47. It’s accessible to all so please join us! A $10 donation is greatly appreciated!!
