Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. By now you know that I'm committed to running the Boston Marathon on April 15, and to exceeding the required fundraising amount of $6,000. I've always had a great appreciation and admiration for the Boston Marathon but my interest in running wasn't always parallel to my interest in the race itself. Last year, though, after completing several half marathons and becoming more interested in running longer distances, I was asked to run a full marathon with a great friend of mine. The challenging process helped me grow as a person and has had a lasting impact on me.
Thanks to The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund, I have been granted a unique chance to run The Boston Marathon. Gaining entry to the marathon is very difficult, so I am extremely proud and thankful for this opportunity, not only to run in this prestigious and historically clad race, but to give back to such a supportive fund.
Since 1949, The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund is committed to providing need and merit based scholarship aid to Massachusetts students who have demonstrated a strong work ethic by having completed at least two years of service to golf. The Fund rewards accomplishment through the competitive, renewable scholarships and is dedicated to providing the golfing community with an opportunity to give back to golf and society by assisting youth in furthering their education.
- Since 1949, The Fund has awarded $23.5 Million in need based college tuition assistance
- In the 2011-2012 school year The Fund awarded $1,500,000 in scholarships
- Over 4,800 young people have received Ouimet Scholarships
- $5,615 is the average cash award
As a Francis Ouimet Alum, I am most excited to help contribute to a local fund that has directly impacted my path to where I am today.
Now here is where I need your assistance. My goal is to raise over the required amount of $6,000 for The Fund. Speaking from my experience, training and preparing to run a marathon is a tall task. It requires a great deal of time, sacrifice and discipline. I also understand the sacrifices required to combat rising tuition costs today and that’s an even greater challenge for many.
No donation is too big or small, as they all add up and are appreciated, not only by me, but by The Fund as well.
Thank you for your suport and contribution!
