Thank You Again for Supporting the Team Tassy Run Across Haiti - Come Join Us!
March 16, 2017
When I wake up each and every morning to either swim, bike or run, my focus is never about any singular finish line but rather about the journey, legacy and being a role model for those closest to me, especially my loving wife Jennifer and son Andy.
On February 17, 2017, I will embark on an incredible 230 mile journey by participating in “Run Across Haiti” with a local non-profit Pittsburgh organization, Team Tassy. The few people I’ve mentioned the run to have asked the question, “Why are you running across the country of Haiti?”
Well let me explain. Often times, endurance sports such as Ironman can be selfish and individualized but I’ve learned over the years that it actually takes a village to be successful and that there is always a greater cause at hand.
Through sport, I’ve been blessed with The opportunity to do something much more satisfying than any personal best time or Ironman finish. One of my life goals is to be an inspiration and role model to my son and to teach him that through hard work and dedication, all challenges and obstacles can be overcome not just in sport but also in life and there is always a greater cause at play.
Team Tassy carries similar core values and their overall mission is to assist families in Haiti to move out of poverty and finding good, dignified jobs. Team Tassy envisions a world where poverty does not exist. This dream becomes reality through hard work, dedication once given the opportunity.
The Run Across Haiti was also started to show that Haiti is not a place to fear or to be pitied. There is no doubt that running 230 miles over the span of a week will not only be a physical challenge, but a mental challenge of endurance. I look at it, though, as a small number of miles to cover if we can do our part to take steps to help end the poverty in this amazing country and create opportunity for the special people who live there.
I am asking you to join “MY VILLAGE” and support us with a donation to help me reach my individual fundraising goal of $4,000. All proceeds will be directed back into the total raised to fund job training for the Haitian people. Even though you are not physically on the trip to Haiti this coming February, it will be tremendous if I can cross the finish line with you as part of “MY VILLAGE”, and know we did our part to support a wonderful cause for Haitians who desperately need and want a chance for a healthy, happy life.
Thank you so very much for your time and consideration.
