Chad's Tribute

On a June summer night everything changed for me and my family. My brother Chad passed away suddenly. Death happens every day and the ones who have passed we never knew how they changed lives of people who knew them. My brother Chad changed so many.

Chad and I had a different kind of bond that some might see as a tragedy but we always thought it wasn't that way. We both were born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which in short took the use of our muscles away. Chad was my older brother and also the only person that understood the struggles because we both lived with MD.

He lived in our town of Waverly, MN for almost 40 years, he passed a month after he turned 40.

After a few days after he passed away it came to me. I wanted to have a memorial built to honor him in Waverly. My background is in the music business so I came up with a music and food festival in Waverly called Chad's Tribute!

It has been a tough road doing everything but without the Waverly City Council approving not only the building of the memorial but the festival I wouldn't be here writing this. The other thing that made this possible are the sponsors because without them I would never been able to get blues/rock guitar player Corey Stevens to headline the festival along with Martin Devaney, Little Man and Kung Fish Crow. Even people who never knew Chad have helped Jon Offerdahl did the logo plus the flyer and Brenda Garces who did the video.

The money I am trying to raise will go to pay for a part of the expenses for Chad's Tribute and for the memorial that will be in Waverly. The money raised the day of Chad's Tribute on July 26th will be going directly to the memorial. When food is bought from the food trucks Slider Squad and Sizzling Wagon a portion of the sales will go to Chad's Tribute.

The memorial is going to be a bench where people can rest and reflect. Here is an example of what it may look like

This has always been about honor my brother Chad so help me get the word out about this by forwarding it out to everyone you know so we can honor a truly great person. Let us celebrate Chad on this day!

It is a stepping-stone to honor inspirational people like my brother Chad. In many small towns in Minnesota and all over the country they have had people who truly inspired a town. Many don’t have enough money or know how to go about organizing something like this. This is where I come in; I will help them start the process into organizing their own music and food festival to raise money for a memorial. I will do this for any town in any part of Minnesota or the country.

This is for a fallen soldier, a brother, a child, a mother, a father or whoever inspired a whole community with hope, courage, laughter.
