JOIN ME TODAY!
November 29, 2016
I’ve only recently joined the Boys & Girls Club as a board member, but I can’t tell you deeply moved I am already by its work. Being from Elizabethton, I know firsthand the need in our community. There are families and kids out there that need help with things that you & I just take for granted, and it can be overwhelming all the ways in which our community needs us to step up. I choose to give my time and energy to the Boys & Girls Club because I know that this organization can help kids and families have a brighter future.
Terina & I recently came to the Club for a “friendship dinner”. It was an informal visit where we had the opportunity to sit with the kids and get to know them. We were with three girls all around the age of 10. They were smart. Kind of bashful at first, but really funny once you got them talking. These girls weren’t much different than me or Terina at that age, but it was clear that they really needed the Club. They were all from single parent families, and all of their moms were working while they were at the Club. What really stuck out though was how these kids talked about the Club staff. Yes, they all loved the pool tables, but it was the people they actually talked about. And that’s why I support the Club. These kids need caring adults that will be there for them, and their families need them to be in a quality program afterschool.
This year, I want to raise $1,000 for the Club. I could tell you all that it would do, but instead, I'll ask you to look around. The single parent who has to work long hours? The kid who you don't know will have a Christmas? The Boys & Girls Club can be the difference in their life. I see it firsthand.
I hope you will join me in supporting these kids this Christmas. I hope you will give them a Club that can help them have a brighter future. Without you, it won’t be possible. Let’s give these kids a Club that will feed them, tutor them, mentor them and teach them life lessons. I hope you will join me in supporting that Club today.
