Change a Life in Ethiopia!
Organized by: Tabitha Deering
I have been to Ethiopia twice for humanitarian work and each time I have been connected to this beautiful family of 8. The mother's sweet smile and hospitality are amazing, especially in the face of their struggles. This family, along with 130,000 other people live in extreem poverty in a shanty city that is built around a 28 mile trash dump. I was there when a doctor diagnosed her and said the only cure for her pain was surgery. The doctor recommended it be done as soon as possible to avoid complications. I was disappointed when I heard that there were no further medical services available. I have been able to send some help and get her to the doctor and for testing and now she is on a waitlist for the surgery. I desperatly want to go back to Ethiopia, my first goal in being there, is to pay for her surgery, and to support her family with rent and food while she is recovering. She has not been able to do consistent work due to pain. I can't wait to see her through this and to give her and her kids a big hug! I have other opportunities to help there as well, including media work, hosting meals, home visits and other volunteer work. Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement!
