New Camp4All Fundraiser to send homeless youth & families to camp this summer :)
April 13, 2016
The Children’s Lifesaving Foundation (the CLF) is a non-profit, 501( c)(3) organization, dedicated to transforming the lives of homeless and at-risk children and families in Los Angeles through academic, social and domestic support.
Who doesn't remember those life-changing, amazing and beautifully memorable summer camp experiences many of us were lucky enough to experience as kids...? For so many homeless and at-risk youth and families- this is an impossible dream. Even in Los Angeles, a simple day at the beach becomes an extravagance. Camp4All has been changing that reality for 23 years...
The CLF's Camp4All Program:
Since 1993, more than 75,000 children have attended Camp4All Summer Camp Program, which provides crucial academic and social experiences to transitioning homeless and at-risk youth from urban and shelter environments. Camp4All is designed to provide positive, life-affirming outdoor experiences.
Our partner organizations—shelters, missions, Boys and Girls Clubs, foster care and schools—have FREE access to this program, which sends more than 1,000 children to Camp4All each summer. The CLF has been conducting Surf Camp4All at amazing Zuma Beach in Malibu, where children and families from local area shelters hit the beach and learn to surf in a day! An amazing bonding experience, and offering an unparalled, lasting dose of self-esteem, Camp4All also offers an incredible Junior Counselor Program for high school students looking to volunteer and give back their time in a fun, effective and highly meaningful way.
We also host overnight teen camps with Interfaith Inventions at Camp Shalom each year.
Surf Camps and outdoor retreats in beautiful outdoor locations in Malibu offer classic camp activities combined with mindful, enriching ones-like yoga, hiking and surfing, and making art from repurposed materials (with our friends from Bridge to Skate!) Kids, teens and even their parents learn to get upon the board in one day with our great friends from the Malibu Underdogs. It's an awesome day, a cpmplete adventure, and really, truly helps to change their outlook, mind-set and ideas and feeling about their own abilities, and their future.
The CLF started this program because we saw first-hand how hard it was for families in shelters to participate in anything remotely enriching, healthy or recreational. Even something as simple as going on a hike, or taking a trip to a nearby beach, became nearly improbable without desperately needed resources, and the necessary feeling of hope.
Camp4All gives homeless families the chance to relax and perhaps get further involved in our Vita Network Program. It allows them the space and time to breath. Enjoy nature. Be with their children and spouses. (And start, just maybe, to think about the future again.)
Since 1993, the CLF has served over 75,000 at-risk and homeless youth and families-through its three program platforms- Living, Learning and Enriching. Our Camp4All Program has served over 60,000 at-risk and homeless youth and families from LA county area shelters and agencies serving at-risk youth since 1993. Help us make this Camp4All Season BETTER than ever! (Your company or family can even sponsor their very own day, as well!)
CONTRIBUTE NOW- so over 1,000 homeless and at-risk parents and children can feel the bonding effects of an incredible day at Camp4All...
Other CLF Facts & Metrics:
The CLF has moved and transitioned 45 homeless and highly at-risk families into new homes, and hundreds of lives of at-risk and very low-income families have been transformed with new living quarters and financial aid.
Over 47 college scholarships have been awarded to deserving, at-risk teens all across Los Angeles
Currently, the CLF has eight students enrolled in college, on scholarship from a special Family Foundation that supports our Care through College Program. (These teens are among the very first in their families to graduate both high school and college.)
It is our goal that each child in our Vita Network Program gets as close to their own dreams as possible through our programs. We try to help to instill in them the confidence and belief in themselves, which hopefully helps them to overcome any racial, socio-, or economic barriers they may genuinely experience.
Hundreds of amazing, memorable field trips to movies, museums, sporting events, shows, concerts, the circus and outdoor recreational camps have been provided to homeless and at-risk you and their families in LA county.
Over One Million Dollars in IN-KIND Donations of TOYS, NEW CLOTHING, FURNITURE, TOILETRIES and GIFTS have been successfully distributed.
YOUR DONATION will help us to do this great work, and send hundreds more Los Angeles children living in homeless shelters to Camp4All this summer......WE THANK YOU!
