Ainsley's Angels of America is super excited to be spreading awareness and smiles through activism and education! Check out what Angels Kevin and Greg are up to!!
My buddy Greg is one tough customer! He doesn’t speak words, but his body screams emotions! On Feb 22 he will be 26 and he hasn’t spent one moment able to move independently.
Greg was born with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsey and weighed 3 lb 11 oz. He had a stroke at 7 days old and spent 7 weeks in the neonatal i.c.u.
At 5 months old he had a ventricular shunt placed… his future was anything but bright.
He has global limitations; an ongoing seizure disorder, a spinal fusion, gastric reflux, a g-tube for both food and medications. Greg is completely wheelchair dependent . He has had a Baclofen pump placed and replaced,a 2 part spinal fusion operations lasting 9 and 12 hours respectively. He has had hip surgery that required additional plastic surgery secondary to post surgical infection and baclofen pump removal surgery due to the extreme pain of the pump rubbing on his rib cage.
I have never once heard a cry of complaint from Greg. We have been a racing team since 2014…We fundraised and Ainsley’s Angels provided an advanced mobility chair, which he has since outgrown.
Greg and I race in a borrowed racer, which does not fit him..again without a single complaint from him.
His mother has become extremely involved with our racing, but due to certain physical limitations she cannot run. She can however bicycle.
We are fundraising again and We are trying to provide Greg with an “Axiom” racing chair that will accommodate his size and also is adaptable for a bicycle tow. This chair is a dedicated racer and has the capability to be folded for ease of transportation.
Greg has changed my life and given me a new level of understanding compassion and love.
Greg comes from a Marine family and he exhibits every positive quality thereof. He knows how to improvise, adapt and overcome!! From his wheelchair he leads by example ...from the front..
Kid woulda been a helluva Marine!
I call on my many friends ,who have witnessed our racing bond, for any financial assistance great or small that you may be able to provide. We are attempting to raise $4500 for the cost of the racer and bicycle adapter.
Much love and thanks to all...Kevin and Greg… the “G-MAN”
