BENEFITING: MYTEAM TRIUMPH
AinsleysAngels.org is thrilled to help ensure Ben can soon roll with the wind in comfort in his new TEAM HOYT Running Chair!
With your generosity, we are certain this can happen soon! As the father of two very special girls that race together with me, I know that the positive energy surrounding the start line, the togetherness of every member preparing to "roll with the wind", the fearlessness of the athletes, the normalcy of the family, and the love we all have for each other is a therapy like no other.
A message from Ben’s sister:
Running alongside my brother, teasing each other who is faster is something I have dreamt about since I was little. Enjoying the loving banter and arguments about who can beat who in a sibling rivalry was something as a little girl I knew wouldn’t happen, until recently.
My brother Ben was diagnosed with cerebral palsy shortly after birth. Our father was told he would not thrive and make it passed the age of 12. Ben, who recently turned 24, has amazed us all with his will and strong spirit. His spirit lives in his contagious smile and love for those around him. Ben grew up going to sport's event after sport event for my sister and I. He was always on the sidelines rain or shine supporting us in our quest to compete.
After recently competing in a marathon relay event, my cousin and I felt it was time for Ben. It was time for Ben to have the supporters rallying for him on the sidelines. It was time Ben to feel the freedom that a running chair could give him. A running chair, like a Hoyt running chair, would give Ben freedom. Freedom to participate with others. Freedom to smile with the wind in his face and Freedom to cross the finish line with a feeling of accomplishment. It is now my labor of love, as well as my family's, that we make this happen for him. We are rooting for Ben, we are his biggest fans and he wants to run, be free. Our goal is to get him ready to compete in the Shiprock Marathon in 2015, he'll be 25. Thank you Ainsley's Angels for making this possible.
