Ainsley’s Angels (www.ainsleysangels.org) is thrilled to not only help to ensure Charlie can soon roll with the wind in comfort, but to also bring Ainsley's Angels to Corpus Christi! And with your generosity, we did did both!
As the father of two very special girls that race together with me, I know that the positive energy surrounding the start line, the togetherness of every member preparing to "roll with the wind", the fearlessness of the athletes, the normalcy of the family, and the love we all have for each other is a therapy like no other. I am overjoyed!
A message from Charlie’s Mom:
Charlie is a non-verbal 15 yr old with Cerebral Palsy. Rusty and I have become very active in running over the last 6 months. Charlie has trained with us during this time, laughing and waving during the whole run. We enjoy watching the people that see Charlie wave and smile back to him as they drive down the street. Charlie participated in his first 5K run, The Austin Biggest Loser race and once again smiled, laughed and waved the whole way. When Rusty and Charlie crossed the finish line and they placed a medal around Charlie’s neck and gave him a high five for a race well done, with Charlie laughing and dancing with excitement, that is when I realized that running for Charlie is just as rewarding as it is for Rusty and I. After the race several people came up to us and thanked Charlie for inspiring them to push harder during the race. We would love to get a Racing chair for Charlie so that we can take him on all races and run as a family.
YES YOU CAN, donate 10, 20 or 50 dollars right now to ensure the thrill of rolling with the wind and crossing a road race finish line! All funds over the goal will go toward buying an additional chair for others in Southeast Texas to roll also!!!
