BENEFITING: HABITAT FOR HUMANITY-REBUILD MICHIGAN
EVENT: Mighty Mac Swim 2016
EVENT DATE: Sep 05, 2016
My name is Charlie Ferro and I thank you for visiting my page, and for your consideration of supporting me and Habitat for Humanity on the swim of the Straits of Mackinac! This is by far the biggest physical challenge I have ever undertaken and with my roots deep in Michigan, it is a great goal.
When I was 5 years old our family moved to Bedford, Michigan from across the border in Toledo, Ohio. We had a pond on the property and my next oldest sibling, Mary, taught me to swim. I have loved it ever since.
As a child, every summer our family would take a vacation to Drummond Island. A highlight of the trip is the drive across the Mackinac Bridge. When I heard this past November that there was a group of people who swam across the straits, I knew I had to join that club! I’ve completed several triathlons, and one marathon, and enjoyed those experiences. I am grateful for being selected to join the Mighty Mac 2016 group!
I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my wife Kristin and our 3 kids. I attended MSU (Go Green)! I own a healthcare services company, Diversified Medical Staffing, which provides home care to the elderly and disabled, as well as supplemental staff to healthcare facilities.
Please support my efforts that will contribute to Habitat for Humanity of Michigan, which is a terrific charity, building homes in our great state for those in need. Thank you again!
