I am helping to organize a benefit for my brother-in-law, Charlie. Charlie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer about 2 months ago (April 2011) and was told by the doctors that it's "incurable". Charlie is 45 years old and is one helluva father, son, husband, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, nephew & friend! He's always the first person to offer his help, he's been supportive when it comes to his children and their sports or other activities and is one of the kindest, gentlest, caring souls that I've come across in a very long time. When I met Charlie, I had started dating his brother (we met online & have been together since!) and Charlie and his family accepted me without judgment. Now I make Charlie creamy (smooth) soups and water ice (homemade with love!) to help keep his nourishment up. The feeding tube can only do so much. He has began to undergo chemo and it's difficult to watch him knowing he's in pain. Charlie once tipped the scales at over 280 pounds and in the last 2 months has lost well over 70 pounds because of this disease. I will keep you all posted and give more background information about Charlie later. Now it's time to start hitting up the local and bigger businesses for donations.
If anyone is interested in making a donation of any size, I will have the information posted asap. Thanks! xoxoxo
