Dear Friends and Family;
As many of you may already know, my newest niece, Charlotte, was born with Down Syndrome. She is beautiful and everything that my family could have ever hoped for, and every day we are delighted that God has blessed us with her. Coincidentally, I have just registered for my first ultra marathon, a trail race in Chattanooga called the Stump Jump 50K, which takes place October 5th. Having done assorted races in the past and only one marathon, this is a big step up for me and I am excited to face the challenge. As I push myself to do something new and challenging athletically, I can’t help but think of some of the challenges that lie ahead for my niece. She is the light of our family and we want to do everything we can to give her the best possible options as she grows and matures.
Part of that means helping to support organizations that will do their best to provide Charlotte and other Down Syndrome children with programs to attend, as well as various types of support throughout their lives. The National Down Syndrome Society works in the local community and nationally to provide care, counseling, programs, and raise social awareness and acceptance of Down Syndrome.
While I am going to face a new mental and physical challenge running the Stump Jump, I want to challenge you to help me reach my goal of raising $2,000 to donate to this wonderful charity in Charlotte’s name. Whether you prefer to pledge a certain amount per kilometer or mile (50 kilometers/31 miles total) run or just a set donation amount, there are many ways to donate and all are greatly appreciated. For more information regarding donations, please see the details at the footer of this page. I know my sister, Elisabeth, her husband, Justin, Charlotte and I will all be grateful for your generous contribution.
Thank you so much,
