BENEFITING: The Chadtough Foundation
EVENT DATE: Mar 08, 2018
Chase Winovich, a defensive lineman for the University of Michigan football team, became involved with The ChadTough Foundation when he pledged to dye his hair orange for the Outback Bowl if Michigan fans could raise at least $15,000 for ChadTough. His goal was quickly surpassed. His initiative not only raised more than $200,000 for ChadTough and the Michigan Medicine Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Initiative, his orange hair garned significant attention before and on gameday.
"I first learned about ChadTough a couple years ago. Coach Harbaugh spoke to us and explained what Chad was going through. The legacy that the Carr family has with Michigan really resonated with me and their mission. It was just so heartfelt to see this young kid and the struggles he went through. It really pulled on my heartstrings. From day one, it inspired me to be a better football player and a better person. I always said, if there was any chance I had to give back and help out with that, I would do it."
