Chautauqua Offices of Psychotherapy and Evaluation, Inc. (dba Chautauqua Healthcare Services) is a private, not-for-profit community mental health center in Walton County. Chautauqua Healthcare Services offers a comprehensive array of quality mental health and substance abuse treatment services, including outpatient counseling, adult residential services, prevention education, psychiatric treatment, crisis counseling, case management, screening and referral, and wellness programming for all ages.
Chautauqua Women and Children’s Center is an answer to a long time community service need identified by the Walton Community Health Improvement Partnership. Because of the high number of substance exposed babies born in Walton County a treatment facility is long overdue for these mothers. In 2016 there were over 100 drug exposed babies born to Walton County mothers. These babies are often born premature and the mothers had no prenatal care. “The infants are born with either Xanax or Heroin in their system and are addicted. We cannot stand by and allow this to continue” says Rachel Gillis, CEO of Chautauqua Healthcare Services. Our agency designed a program and facility to provide long term residential treatment for pregnant and postpartum mothers who are recovering from substance use. These mothers will be allowed and encouraged to keep their child with them during their treatment. Chautauqua Healthcare Services was among the three recipients of the Impact 100 Grant in 2016. This generous grant is the initial contribution to the construction fund for the program.
